We identified the recurring questions that were asked of us. We hope you can quickly find the answer that suits you.

Does Modding will be supported ?2020-08-17T18:54:11+02:00

The good news is that full Mod Support is planned including blueprints and the full-use of the UE4 (Unreal Engine 4) Editor and Steam Workshop support. The bad news is that’s all the information we have for now, although I’m sure this will come when the game is fully released or at least in beta.

What if X feature is missing from Vlog Y?? I looked forward to it!2020-07-25T22:01:36+02:00

The definition of an Alpha is feature incomplete but playable, if something is missing it likely had some issues or content that the system drives was not adequately developed in time for the Closed Alpha. In many cases we’ll either introduce it via a patch during the Closed Alpha or let you guys know why the feature got cut.

Why is there an NDA in place?2020-07-25T21:50:56+02:00

NDA’s on early builds of software are commonplace. However, content creators that are partnered with us will be given plenty of opportunities to release gameplay clips or even stream the game on Twitch/YouTube.

Isn’t the Closed Alpha supposed to be out by the end of July?2020-07-25T21:49:44+02:00

We made sure to deliver weekly updates to keep you guys informed but without dropping any specific release dates that we knew we may not be able to hit. To be blunt, we hate it when we promise a date and cannot follow through on it, it is incredibly soul crushing for us. While the issue is nearly dealt with, we have a responsibility to make sure that the CA works when we say that it’s available and part of that for us is a slower rollout because we simply don’t have the experience on-hand to just flip a switch and have everything work overnight.

What is the legal issue holding back the release?2020-07-25T21:48:45+02:00

While we have been advised to not divulge too many specifics, it is essentially a trademark dispute that required a bit of back and forth on what was okay and what was not. We have gone out of our way to minimize this issue popping up again.

Where can I get my keys and other rewards from Backer?2020-07-25T20:07:44+02:00

Emails will be sent to you at the time of release, inviting you to retrieve your game keys. Surveys to collect information on other Backer rewards will also be sent to you.

On which dead matter platform will it be available?2021-06-26T03:29:17+02:00

Dead Matter will be available on PC, via Steam.

We would like Dead Matter to be accessible to all, however dead Matter is above all a PC game.

We want to make sure that the game is finished before trying to move on to new platforms, such as consoles.

Where can I get the role of Backer?2020-07-25T19:57:26+02:00

There is a guide to getting your Role as Backer in the pinned messages from the #help-and-support lounge (on the Official Server: https://discord.gg/deadmatter). Or else follow these steps:

1. Go to https://qisoftware.ca/store/login and create a new account.
2. When registering, use the same email address you used when backing up on Kickstarter/PayPal/Indiegogo.
3. Sign in and go into Profile, then enter your full Discordusername (Name#1234)and tap Back/Entry to save it. Make sure it is typed exactly. (Checkthe spacing and capital letters)
4. Check if you can now see the Backerland subcategory on Discord. If so, everything worked and you now have your role.

If you have followed all these steps but still haven’t received your support role (the name is not blue/ can’t see the hinterland), please send a message directly to any moderator available for help.

If you need help feel free to ask for help on the #help-and-supportchannel.

How big will be the map ?2020-07-25T19:50:46+02:00

The closed alpha will take place in a section of the South Alberta map and is expected to be approximately 5×5 km (25 km2).

It will be extended during the closed alpha and early access to reach about 16x16km (256km2).

This is a good video to get an idea of the size of the map:

When do you plan to release the game?2020-07-25T19:46:39+02:00

At the moment we can’t give you a specific date but we think it will be before the end of July.

We will give you news every week until the arrival of the Closed Alpha to keep you informed of the status of the situation.

Early access is expected to arrive in early 2021 (Q1)
